nset doors with long arm hinges are one of the trickier setups in cabinetmaking. The cabinet side or bulkhead is typically set back behind the face frame, leaving the hinge plate floating in space with nothing solid to mount to. The standard workaround — gluing up custom blocks for every job — eats time and never produces consistent results across a run of cabinets.

This block solves the problem and scales with your build.

A purpose-built 1/4" thick mounting block that installs directly behind the face frame on the cabinet side or bulkhead, giving you a solid, repeatable surface to mount your hinge plate. Designed specifically for Blum and Titus long arm hinge plates, the mounting hole pattern matches both manufacturers so you can use whichever brand your shop runs.

The modular system is where this part really earns its keep. The base block assumes a 1/4" setback. When your job has a deeper setback — 3/8", 3/4", or 1-1/4" — snap-on filler pieces (sold separately) stack on the back of the base to build it up to the exact thickness you need. No gluing up blocks. No swapping out parts. Same base block, infinitely adjustable to your face frame setback.

Installation:

Position the base block on the cabinet side or bulkhead directly behind the face frame opening where the hinge plate needs to land. If your setback is deeper than 1/4", snap the appropriate filler piece(s) onto the back of the base to build to the correct thickness. Secure with wood screws through the block into the cabinet side. Mount your Blum or Titus long arm hinge plate to the front face using the standard hinge plate screws.  We have a jig that can be purchased that makes this go super quick.  It is based on a 100mm door edge to center of hinge boring.
